Helen Irene (Darst) Gilbert

Helen Irene Gilbert, 79, Gallipolis, Ohio went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born June 7, 1939 in Cheshire, Ohio, daughter of the late Douglas and Mary Gilmore Darst. She was a member of Addison Freewill Baptist Church, Addison, Ohio.

Helen married Gleason Gilbert May 5, 1959 in Nutley, New Jersey and he preceded her in death December 19, 2000. To this union were born one son and three daughters: Douglas (Michelle) Gilbert, Gallipolis, Ohio; Becky Caldwell, Sherry (David) Thomas, both of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia and Mary (David) Hughes, New London Connecticut; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; twin sister, Ellen (Brady) Gilbert, Cheshire, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Ellis and two brothers, Richard and Lonnie Darst.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2019 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Pastors Rick Barcus and Truman Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Ridge Cemetery, Cheshire. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
