Johnny Joe Kuhn, 70, Bidwell, Ohio passed away suddenly Thursday, July 20, 2023 in the Holzer Medical Center Emergency Room, Gallipolis, Ohio. Johnny was the last surviving child of Hollis and Myrtle (Cox) Kuhn, born February 26, 1953 at Gallipolis, Ohio.
Johnny was an active member of the Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio serving in many different capacities. He was a past Master and Secretary of the Centreville Lodge #371 in Thurman, Ohio; past District Education Officer, past District Deputy Grand Master and past District Advisor for the 12th Masonic District. A 33rd Degree Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Mason, he received the Meritorious Service Award as a member of the Valley of Columbus and Valley of Gallipolis.
He was a Knight York Cross of Honor, past 6th Arch Inspector of the Royal & Select Masons of Ohio; a member of the Aladdin Shrine Temple, Columbus, Ohio; a past President of the Gallipolis Shrine Club and past Raban of the Hillbilly Clan #7. He was a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, Allied Masonic Degree, York Rite College and Knight Masons.
Johnny married Carolyn (Rose) Kuhn September 29, 1973 and she survives with their two children: Stephanie (Terry) Napier, Wayne, West Virginia and Adam Kuhn, Gallipolis, Ohio and grandchildren: Seth, Lindsay, Dalton, Lauren, Riley, Levi and Brodie as well as several extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by brothers and sister Jerry F. Kuhn, James Michael Kuhn, Kenneth David Kuhn and Linda Lou Filmer.
Masonic services will be conducted Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Funeral services to follow. Burial immediately following services will be in the Hill Cemetery, Centerville, Ohio. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 11:00 AM.
