Larry Cheesebrew Obituary

Larry Walter Cheesebrew, 80, of Thurman, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Friday, October 29, 2021 and was surrounded by his loving wife and three children. He was born September 7, 1941 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia to the late Edward and Mabel (Sayre) Cheesebrew. Larry graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1960.  He worked for 13 years for AEP, 17 years for Newbrough Photography, owned and operated a Veal Farm in Thurman from 1988 to 1998, and retired from Constellium, Ravenswood, West Virginia in 2005. He also was the owner and operator of Larry Cheesebrew and Associates for 21 years and served as the full-time “delivery boy” for A & A Village Floral.

What gave Larry the most joy was his ordination as a Pastor and having the privilege of serving several churches as their minister—including the Bidwell United Methodist Church, the Fair Haven United Methodist Church, the Point Rock Church of the Nazarene, and as the Interim Pastor for the First Baptist Church at Jackson, Ohio, which he still attended.

Larry was an outgoing, genuine, loving people-person who never met a stranger and strived to make friends with everyone he met.  He loved to talk and tell stories and always tried to figure out how he might be related to you. Larry was a community person, serving twice as the President of the St. Albans, West Virginia Rotary Club, and as a tireless supporter and cheerleader for Rio Grande Community College and the University of Rio Grande.

Larry was married to Sharon Rae (Boggs) for 59 years and they have three children who survive: Brent (Anita) Cheesebrew of Patriot, Ohio, Anita (Russ) Moore of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Amanda (Keith) Ehman of Thurman, Ohio. He is survived by his grandchildren Tiata Moore, Ashley Cheesebrew, Noah Moore, Evalena Ehman, Jonah Moore, and Evander Ehman.

Larry is also survived by his sisters Phyllis (Bill) Stevens, Rosemary (Bill) Cook, Beverly Boyce, Connie Graham, and Sharon (Dale) Bryant. He is also survived by sister-in-law Linda Moore Boggs, brother-in-law Frank (Evelyn) Boggs, and sisters-in-law Karen (Weldon) Burrows and Kathy (David) Garrison, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son Larry Walter Cheesebrew II, sister Opal Boyce, brother Edward “Sonny” Cheesebrew, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Beulah Boggs and brother-in-law Joseph Boggs.

Pallbearers for the service will be Noah Moore, Jonah Moore, Evander Ehman, Ritchie Boggs, Joey Halstead, and Travis Halstead. Honorary Pallbearer will be Keith Ehman.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Jackson, 35 Broad Street, Jackson, Ohio with Pastor Russ V. Moore officiating.
