Marianna H. Morgan, 93 of Youngstown, Ohio and formerly of Gallipolis passed away Wednesday March 25, 2020 at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson. She was born November 6, 1926 in Rio Grande, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Hutchinson Howard. She was a 1947 graduate of Rio Grande College where she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Following her graduation Marianna taught in the Chillicothe City Schools for 3 years and the Youngstown Public Schools for 39 Years before her retirement.
Marianna was a member of Price Memorial AME Zion Church, Youngstown, Ohio, where she taught Sunday School and was a Trustee Board Member, life member of the NAACP, life member of the Mahoning Retired Teachers Association, life member of O.E.A., member of the National Organization of Negro Women, Cub Scout Volunteer, former member of Youngstown YMCA Board and the 1995 Youngstown YMCA Woman of the Year.
She is survived by two daughters, Valerie Thomas, Youngstown, Ohio and Ericka E. Morgan, St Paul, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Stephen Norris, Michaela Thomas and Shawn Thomas; brothers, John A. Howard, Bidwell, Ohio, Clarence E. (Judy) Howard, Dayton, Ohio and William (Jackie) Howard, Bidwell, Ohio; sister, Hazel M. (Frank) Young, Dayton, Ohio and sister-in-law, Merle Howard of Bidwell, Ohio.
In addition to her parents Marianna was preceded in death by her husband John H. Morgan; sisters, Dorothy Gordon and Margaret Boling; brothers Charles ‘Tiny” Howard and James Howard.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Pine Street Cemetery, Gallipolis. Arrangements are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis.
