Marion Kemper Obituary

Marion F. “Junior” Kemper, 93, of Ona, West Virginia went home to be with Jesus Monday, January 8, 2023 in Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. Junior was born July 6, 1930 in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Marion “Buck” and Georgia (Waugh) Kemper.

A United States Army Veteran, he was a former member of Vinton Full Gospel Church and present member of Gallipolis American Legion Post 27. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He married Janet Leslie Kemper November 17, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio and she precedes him in death August 31, 2013.

He is survived by children: Keith (Joan) Kemper-Rose, Englewood, Ohio; Kelli Templeton, Ona, West Virginia and Karli (Joey) Cheesebrew, Point Pleasant, West Virginia; grandchildren: Kristopher Kemper, Dustin (Abby Koons) Rose, Tony Rose, Allison (Seth) Parsons, Mallory (Jacob) Smith, Kindra (Calvin Rabey) Cheesebrew and Wyatt Cheesebrew as well as great-grandchildren: Ethan O’Dell, Ember Parsons, Maverick and Gunner Smith.

Also survived by his brothers, Warren (Debbie) Kemper, Bidwell, Ohio and Larry (Vickie) Kemper, Gallipolis, Ohio and sister, Judy Gray, Canton, Michigan along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members including two special friends: Jon Welker and Jim Hamilton, both of Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Kevin Kemper; brothers, Jerald Kemper and Mike Manley and sisters: Bernice Kemper, Ruth Matthew, Maxine Fortner and Jeanie West.

Funeral services will be held Monday January 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Mark Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in Balls Chapel Cemetery, Ashton, West Virginia with Full Military Graveside Rites to be performed by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home Monday 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.
