Michael “Okie” Fortner, 43, Thurman, Ohio passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Ohio Health Doctors Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Born December 8, 1977 in Gallipolis, Ohio, he was the son of Michael and Brenda (Kent) Fortner, Oak Hill, Ohio. A 1996 graduate of River Valley High School and Buckeye Career Center, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to “Bigfoot” Conventions.
In addition to his parents, Okie leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Mary “Beth” Fortner, Thurman, and children: Tyler (Tiffany) Crabtree, Wellston, Ohio; Cameron (Shyann) Fortner and Cierra (C.J.) Fitch, both of Vinton, Ohio; grandchildren: Ava, Adley and Aubree Fitch and Gunner Fortner; brothers: Stephen (Kandus) Fortner, Gallipolis, Ohio and Teddy (Miranda) Fortner, Rio Grande, Ohio and nephews: Landon and Jensen Fortner and Brenden and Beckett Fortner.
Okie was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Jewell Fortner; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Hazel Fortner and maternal grandparents, Okie and Rubel Kent.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in the Little Flock Church of Old Regular Baptist with Brother Hank Forgey and Brethren of the Old Regular Baptists officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Tackett Edition, Vinton, Ohio. Visitation will be conducted in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis Tuesday 5:00-7:00 PM.
