Naomi Jane (Casto) Ewing

Naomi Casto Ewing, 101, Plain City, Ohio passed away July 10, 2020. Naomi was born March 10, 1919 in Alice, Ohio and was the fifth of eleven children born to the late Granville and Alice (Smith) Casto.

Naomi graduated from Vinton High School in 1936. In 1951, she joined the staff of Ohio Bell and stayed with them until her retirement in 1983. She was in the workforce for a total of 47 years. In 1943, she married William P. Ewing, who passed away in 1984. In 1991, she married L.S. Vance, who passed away in 2000.

In 1950, she settled in Columbus and was a resident of Columbus for 51 years until she moved to Plain City, Ohio in 2001.

Naomi leaves behind her daughter, Rebecca (Duane) Ott, the joy of her life, and her granddaughter, Oriana. Also, she leaves behind her sister, Betty Birch, and her brother, Bill (Francyl) Casto, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

In God’s heavenly domain, she will be joining her parents; her brothers: Victor, Johnny, Leon, Raymond, Edward, Stanley and Jim Casto; her sister, Annalu Payne and two husbands, William P. Ewing and L.S. Vance.

Naomi liked to do anything that would make a house a home. Every morning, she thanked the Lord for another day, no matter how she felt or what was happening in her life. She tried to find the beauty in each day and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life -- sharing a meal with family and friends, sitting on the porch, watching the birds. Mom was blessed with many gifts and talents. She always used those gifts and talents to make the lives of those around her better. She worked tirelessly to fill our home with warmth and love. She was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.

Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2020 in the Vinton Memorial Park, Vinton, Ohio with Andy Sieberhagen officiating. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, is honored to serve the Ewing Family.
