Walter "Moose" K. Young

Walter K. “Moose” Young, 72, Vinton, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Darst Private Care Home, Pomeroy, Ohio. Born June 2, 1949 in Webbville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Walter and Opal Crabtree Young. He married Patricia Casto Young March 27, 1999 and she preceded him in death February 4, 2020.

Moose enjoyed the changes of the seasons, and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and a good meal. He never met a stranger and always made others feel welcome and special.

He is survived by his sister, Maxine (Earl) Oller and brother-in-law, Tim (Trhonda) Casto; several nieces and nephews who adored him and will miss him terribly. He also leaves behind his trusted companions “One Lucky Dog” and Turd – the Cat”.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patty and Joanne.

Words cannot express the void Moose leaves behind and his legacy of love for those who met him is immeasurable. A special Thank You to the staff of Darst Private Care Home for the excellent care of Moose during his illness.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2021 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel. Burial to follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 11:00 AM to the time of service.
