Anderson Duguid Owens, Jr., 91, Rio Grande, Ohio passed away following a brief illness Friday, May 6, 2016 in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born November 9, 1924 in Newport, Kentucky, the son of the late Anderson Duguid and Edith Hurst (Stivers) Owens, Sr. He married Eleanor Louise (Flessa) Owens June 21, 1947 in Cincinnati, who preceded him in death January 13, 2016. He was a graduate of Newport High School, Newport, Kentucky and received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. Anderson retired as an Assistant Principal from Western Hills High School, Cincinnati after serving through the years of 1969 – 1982; he also served as Principal at Samuel Ach and Woodward Junior High Schools, and loved golf, gardening, bridge, bowling and opera.

He is survived by their children: David Anderson (Joan) Owens, Batavia, Ohio; Daniel Herbert (June) Owens, Cincinnati and Michael Jonathan (Laurel Kirkhart) Owens, Thurman, Ohio; grandchildren: Kristine (Jeff) Durand and Kathy (Eric) Sintz, both of Batavia, Ohio; Joshua Owens, Cincinnati; Grace Owens, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Jasmine Owens, Portland, Maine and Micaela Owens, Erie, Pennsylvania and great-grandchildren: Jack, Allison and Wyatt Durand and Parker and Paxton Sintz.

Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Westwood First Presbyterian Church, 3011 Harrison Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00 PM the day of services. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, is honored to serve the Owens Family.
